So, apparently about three blocks from my house two people were murdered this morning. I have since found out that it was a male and a female. The guy worked at Brooklyn's right over by Shopko. A passer-by saw the house on fire and when cops arrived they found the bodies inside. It was then ruled that they had not died from the fire, but had been murdered.

It is so weird. Usually stuff like this happens in the middle of Spokane. Is the killer on the loose? They don't know. Do I live in a bad part of town? I didn't think so. I still don't think so but I am more convinced than ever than people are flippin' crazy.

So, Lucas and I have been waking up to Oldies 101.1 FM here in Spokane for, perhaps, the past two years. Lame you say? Well, no. Actually it was the perfect mix to wake up to. My favorites were the mornings the the Four Tops' "Bernadette" would be playing. It was the only radio station with any soul.

Imagine my disgust to wake up to some sort of uber-soft rock hit yesterday morning.

"I think they did something to the radio station" I told Lucas.

"Nah...." he said.

"Have you heard the funny guys or the news?"

:::silence:::

"Crap"

It went something like that. But it really hit me this morning. Apparently the radio station has been sold along with the former 105.7 the peak (currently called "the buzzard"), both the country stations and BOB 103.9 FM. What made these jerks decide to do this?

Imagine this if you will...

George and Paul are hanging around a desheveled, office in transition. They are surrounded by boxes and have fancy coffees in their hands.

"Umm...aren't all of the people dead or deaf who listen to this?"

"Oh yeah Georgie boy...definitely!"

"Bring on the Don Henley!"

Cursed stupid people! But I must apply my college education here....

"I cannot control them, therefore, they are nothing".

Thanks Stoics.

p.s. sorry for the rant Cara. =)

So, by returning intact from this amazing trip I have fulfilled another one of my life goals. I feel as if I have been doing a lot of that lately which is surreal, fascinating and seems very few things are impossible anymore.

I will be returning (hopefully with this snow) to Pirate land on Tuesday. Looking forward to that, but am I bit sad that I will be lacking a Vic Bobb class. Stoked to have a class devoted solely to Poetry...wah hoo!

Also, just finished reading Updike's "Marry Me". It was pretty good, but I need to read "Rabbit, Run" so that I may truely compare, at least according to my highly enlightened sources.

So, I have been planning this since like June, but it has finally arrived. I feel like a total dork and have been periodically freaking out about leaving the little wonderful existence I have carved out for myself in this world. But I know this is what I want to do and now have to do (no turning back baby!). It will be amazing and eyeopening and freeing. I plan to have a great time.

According to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, while both male
and female reindeer grow antlers in the summer each year, male reindeer
drop their antlers at the beginning of winter, usually late November
to mid-December. Female reindeer retain their antlers until after they
give birth in the spring.

Therefore, according to EVERY historical rendition depicting Santa's
reindeer, EVERY single one of them, from Rudolph to Blitzen, had to
be a girl.

Male patriarchial bullshit!.("let's just tell everyone the are male reindeer")...Females saving and assisting Santa....Spread the word!
