I have been published in the online journal TULIP. You can read what they felt worthy here: www.tulipweekly.wordpress.com

I also have an author blurb under "contributors" on the site.

This is the first time I have been published. It may "only" be an online journal but it is a innovative and fantastic one and the future of print is going online. I am so proud to be a part of TULIP because some of the best stuff I have read recently can be found there.

So, for my final class at Whitworth I am taking Writing in the 21st Centurywhich Dr. Johnson says is secretly called Digital Storytelling.

Today, we used Audacity software that we downloaded (for free) to make a sound clip with sound effects. My partner Emmily and I made a short one, telling a joke about a frog and a Moose. We made our own "ribbits" and found Moose sounds online but decide we liked the Elk sounds better because they were more "ominous".

You can listen to it here:  http://www.upload-mp3.com/files/264961_ypmb8/finalfrogmoose.mp3

I was really proud of myself for learning how to create these sound files, edit, cut and paste them and then convert the whole thing into an MP3 file. To many of you, this may be child's play but for me it ia a foray into a realm of possibilities.

My final project must be a five minute long combination of Audio and Visuals. Wish me luck.

Good quote for 2009; the year I am hopefully chosen for and then select a Grad school, perhaps move to a town with a selected grad school with my incredibly cute little family, finish my last month at Whitworth and continue to evolve. I am so thankful for the new friends I made in 2008. Cheers to all my family and friends, both new and old.

Thanks to Fresh Abundance for this email. Gave me snow-less day hope.

"Victory gardens, also called war gardens or food gardens for defense, were
vegetable, fruit and herb gardens planted at private residences in the
United States, Canada, United Kingdom and Australia during World War I and
World War II to reduce the pressure on the public food supply brought on by
the war effort. In addition to indirectly aiding the war effort these
gardens were also considered a civil "morale booster"  in that gardeners
could feel empowered by their contribution of labor and rewarded by the
produce grown.

My challenge to you is to grow a victory garden this coming season. It could
be anything from a few pots on a terrace to a full section of your yard.
Growing food is one of the best ways you can contribute to the
sustainability movement
. If you take on this challenge I personally commit
to making sure you have access to information, classes, and tools over the
2009 growing season. Even if you don't have a green thumb and have never
grown anything before please consider taking up this challenge. Our first
Victory Garden get together will be a seed exchange during the Community
Roots Market on February 14th

We will be working hard ourselves to grow food as we get our PEACH Valley
Permaculture Farm in full production this year. Currently we are exploring
how to build a geo thermal experimental green house. If all goes well we
will raise money to erect the green house during the 2009 growing season.
Our valley farm will have ongoing classes and tutorial sessions during the
growing season. There will also be opportunity for volunteering on the farm.
Stay tuned for regular updates as we head into this season."

Weekly Prayer

Help me to laugh

with so much heart

I shake the trees

and tremble the quiet

pools. Surprise

the old carp

and warblers

with my joy.

Multiply my delights

till they surround me like an echo

revolving in a gorge.

This quote seemed appropriate, even though I spent all day yesterday cleaning Andrew's room with him and giving lots of stuff to the ARC of Spokane (which, BTW, is a way better charity than Goodwill when it comes to waste)
